PM Modi Engages in Dialogue with Saudi Crown Prince
New Delhi: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a conversation with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, where they addressed the ongoing conflicts in West Asia and emphasized the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation.
During their phone call, Modi reiterated India's strong condemnation of assaults on regional energy infrastructure.
In a post shared on X, he stated, "Spoke with Crown Prince and PM of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed the ongoing conflict in West Asia."
Modi noted that both leaders concurred on the necessity of ensuring safe and open shipping routes.
He expressed gratitude for the Crown Prince's ongoing support for the Indian community residing in Saudi Arabia.
This marks the second discussion between Modi and the Saudi Crown Prince since the conflict escalated on February 28.
As tensions rise, the US and Israel have launched attacks on Iran, which in turn has targeted its neighbors and Israel.
Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane for 20% of the world's energy, has led to restrictions on maritime traffic.
Since the onset of the conflict, Iran has permitted very few vessels to navigate through this crucial route.
Modi has also reached out to various global leaders, including those from the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Iran, France, Israel, and Malaysia.
Following a conversation with US President Donald Trump, Modi remarked that they had a productive exchange regarding the situation in West Asia.
