Mamata Banerjee Meets Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi

New Delhi: On Sunday, Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), held a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, the head of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in the capital, just one day before a significant gathering of the Opposition INDIA bloc.

The TMC characterized their meeting as cordial, emphasizing that the two leaders engaged in discussions about future strategies.

The upcoming meeting will involve 23 political parties from the INDIA bloc, who aim to reassess their approach against the BJP and resolve internal conflicts following the recent electoral setbacks faced by regional parties like TMC and DMK.

In a post shared on X, the TMC stated, "Our Hon'ble Chairperson Smt Mamata Banerjee along with our Hon'ble National General Secretary Shri Abhishek Banerjee met with Shri Arvind Kejriwal Ji today, in Delhi."

The statement highlighted the warm interaction and extensive discussions about the path forward.

The TMC also called for unity and a vision for a better future in 2029, hinting at the next Lok Sabha elections.

The party remarked, "When the people of India unite, no force on earth can stop their march towards justice, dignity, and a better future in 2029."

Mamata Banerjee's visit to Delhi is primarily for the INDIA bloc meeting.

This meeting between Banerjee and Kejriwal occurs months after AAP declared its withdrawal from the INDIA bloc.

It is anticipated that AAP will not participate in Monday's meeting.

The INDIA bloc gathering is also taking place amidst tensions among some member parties, with the DMK opting out due to perceived betrayals by Congress in Tamil Nadu, while the CPI(M) has expressed dissatisfaction over allegations from Congress leaders regarding collusion with the BJP in Kerala.

Despite these tensions, the TMC has maintained a direct line of communication with Kejriwal and AAP, with leaders from both parties meeting multiple times over the past two years, particularly during outreach efforts following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and prior to crucial Opposition discussions.

The TMC has consistently supported Kejriwal and AAP in their disputes with the central government.

There has been no immediate confirmation from either party regarding whether their discussions included topics related to the INDIA bloc meeting or future Opposition coordination.
