India Celebrates UAE National Day
New Delhi: On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar conveyed heartfelt wishes to the citizens of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in honor of their National Day. He reaffirmed India's dedication to enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and fostering deeper commercial, cultural, and interpersonal connections.
In a message posted on X, Jaishankar expressed, "Warmest greetings to DPM and FM Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Government and people of the UAE on their National Day. We remain committed to strengthening our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and further deepening our commercial, cultural and people-to-people ties."
On Monday, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal participated in the UAE National Day festivities in New Delhi, praising the robust partnership between the two nations.
"I am delighted to attend the 54th UAE National Day celebrations! I appreciate the warmth and hospitality shown by H.E. Dr. Abdulnasser Jamal Alshaali, Ambassador of UAE to India, at the UAE Embassy. I take pride in the strong India-UAE partnership, which is built on trust, innovation, and a shared vision for the future," Goyal shared on X.
On November 26, India and the UAE convened the 6th Meeting of the Joint Committee on Consular Affairs (JCCA) in Abu Dhabi, where they agreed on measures to enhance collaboration in consular, visa, and legal matters.
The delegations assessed the progress made since their last meeting in New Delhi in 2024, sharing experiences and best practices in the consular field.
India expressed gratitude for the UAE leadership's support for the Indian community residing in the UAE, which plays a crucial role in fortifying bilateral relations, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
"The discussions led to advancements in four key areas: improved information flow and consular access; expedited cooperation on Mutual Legal Assistance and Extradition cases; progressive liberalization of visa policies; and an institutionalized review mechanism," the MEA noted.
Both nations also reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity, and well-being of their citizens living abroad.
"The meeting was characterized by the traditional warmth and cooperation that define the historic and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE. Both parties emphasized the strength of their relationship, inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and His Highness President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and deeply rooted in the close ties between the peoples of both countries," the statement concluded.
The Indian delegation was led by Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs), MEA, while the UAE delegation was headed by Omar Obaid AlHesan AlShamsi, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On November 17, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth met with his UAE counterpart Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei during the Dubai Air Show 2025, emphasizing stronger collaboration through institutional mechanisms, defense exhibitions, and training cooperation.
"Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth held a bilateral meeting with his UAE counterpart Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, on the sidelines of the Dubai Air Show 2025. He stressed the importance of stronger engagement through institutional mechanisms, defense exhibitions, training cooperation, and encouraged exploring joint research, co-development, and co-production for deeper defense ties," the Defence Ministry shared on X.
