Minister's Warning to Party Leader

Following a warning issued by Humayun Kabir, the leader of the Common Public Upliftment Party (AJYUP), regarding a potential ban on animal sacrifice during the upcoming Bakrid festival, West Bengal's state minister Agnimitra Paul has made a statement. He suggested that if the party cannot adhere to the regulations of Bengal, they should consider relocating to another state or an Islamic country abroad. Paul emphasized that those wishing to remain in Bengal must comply with its laws.

Compliance with State Regulations

Paul further stated that individuals who believe they cannot follow the state's rules should seek permission elsewhere, either in another state or in a foreign Islamic nation. He reiterated that anyone wishing to stay in India must respect local regulations. This remark came in response to Kabir's comments regarding the 'Animal Slaughter Guidelines' issued by the government led by Suvendu Adhikari on May 13.

New Slaughter Regulations

The guidelines mandate that a fitness certificate must be obtained before the slaughter of bulls, calves, cows, buffaloes, and castrated buffaloes. Additionally, public slaughter of these animals has been prohibited, and officials enforcing this order are instructed to face no obstacles. Kabir pointed out that approximately 37% of Muslims consume beef, and if there are intentions to impose restrictions, all licensed slaughterhouses for cows should be sealed first.

Call for Respecting the Law

Kabir asserted that while the law must be respected, sacrifices will continue. He mentioned that valid animals for sacrifice will be slaughtered according to the Quran. He issued a direct warning to the BJP government, stating that they should not play with fire. If they attempt to impose a ban on sacrifices, it will lead to significant challenges for them. The Muslim community will not compromise on this matter under any circumstances. He also noted that the central government engages in the export and import of beef.
