West Bengal Government Launches Strict Campaign Against Illegal Immigration

The West Bengal government, under Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari, has launched a rigorous campaign against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, emphasizing national security. The 'Detect-Delete-Deport' policy aims to identify and deport those unlawfully residing in the state. With increased surveillance and the establishment of holding centers, the government is determined to ensure that Indian resources are reserved for citizens. This shift marks a significant change in governance, moving away from previous political protection of illegal immigrants. The public is now demanding secure borders and accountability from their leaders.

A New Era in West Bengal's Governance

Following a significant political shift in West Bengal, a long-awaited phase has commenced for the state's residents. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari, the Bengal government has initiated a rigorous campaign against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, instilling considerable fear among those crossing the border and their supporters. The government is now identifying individuals who have unlawfully entered India and occupied its resources under the 'Detect-Delete-Deport' policy. The clear message from the government is that Indian territory will no longer serve as a refuge for intruders.

Revealing Scenes at Hakimpur Checkpoint

At the Hakimpur checkpoint in North 24 Parganas, the sight of hundreds of Bangladeshi Muslim men, women, and children gathering with bags, blankets, and trolleys to flee back to Bangladesh before facing arrest has unveiled the extensive illegal immigration issue that has persisted for years. These individuals have been living in various parts of Bengal without valid documentation, becoming a burden on local resources.

Government's Firm Stance

Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari has issued a stern warning to those residing illegally in India to return immediately, or the government will take action. His tough stance is fostering trust among the people of Bengal. For years, political forces that engaged in appeasement politics overlooked the issue of immigration, but now the state government is visibly standing in favor of national security. Adhikari has made it clear that the rights to food, employment, and resources in Bengal belong first to Indian citizens, not to illegal immigrants.

Establishment of Holding Centers

The state government is accelerating the establishment of holding centers in every district. Currently, three holding centers are operational in the Swarupnagar area, accommodating around 350 immigrants. New centers are also being set up in Siliguri, Matigara, and Naxalbari. Surveillance in border areas has significantly increased, with police, border security forces, and administrative agencies continuously checking documents to ensure no illegal individuals escape detection.

Acknowledgment from Immigrants

Many individuals arriving at Hakimpur have admitted to living in Bengal without documentation for years. Some even acknowledged that had the previous government remained in power, they would never have needed to return. This statement highlights how political protection has historically encouraged illegal immigration in Bengal. However, the situation has changed. The BJP government has made it clear that eradicating illegal immigration from Bengal is its top priority. Document checks, border surveillance, and the preparation of holding centers have disrupted the peace of those who have been hiding in India for years. They now realize that there is no place for those who jeopardize India's security.

Public Sentiment and Political Accountability

It is worth noting that the Trinamool Congress has long claimed that large-scale immigration does not occur in Bengal. However, the lines at the border are now revealing the truth. Those who turned Bengal into a hub for vote bank politics have now been relegated to the opposition benches by the public. The people of Bengal are now demanding secure borders and strict governance.

Strengthening Border Security

Amidst these developments, discussions are ongoing regarding new proposals to enhance security along the India-Bangladesh border. In areas where erecting fences is challenging, there are reports of considering the deployment of dangerous creatures like crocodiles and venomous snakes. The Border Security Force is reportedly studying the feasibility of creating natural barriers in these sensitive regions. Although some so-called human rights activists are opposing this, national security remains paramount. If illegal immigration, smuggling, and threats to national security continue from across the border, India has the right to take all necessary stringent measures. Bangladeshi immigrants must now understand that anyone attempting to illegally cross into Indian territory will face the full force of the law, security forces, and stringent border regulations.
