Suvendu Adhikari, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has commended the police forces of South Dinajpur and Malda districts for their effective joint operation against an interstate and cross-border drug trafficking network. Following the arrest of notorious drug dealer Mridul Ghosh last month, authorities apprehended three additional suspects, including key associate Pintu Sarkar. In a post on X, Adhikari expressed his appreciation for the police's outstanding efforts, stating that their operation dealt a significant blow to the drug network operating across state lines and borders.


Details of the Operation

The Chief Minister noted that after the swift investigation following Ghosh's arrest, Pintu Sarkar and two other co-accused were captured. During a coordinated raid at a property in Manglabari, within the jurisdiction of the Malda police station, authorities seized cash amounting to ₹2.4 crore, thousands of bottles of cough syrup valued at ₹90 lakh in the black market, and approximately 20 grams of gold. Adhikari mentioned that intensive questioning is ongoing to uncover the entire network and apprehend all individuals involved in this racket.

Adhikari emphasized the state government's commitment to ensuring the safety of youth and preventing criminal networks from exploiting West Bengal.
