West Bengal Chief Minister Announces Key Cabinet Allocations

West Bengal's Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced significant cabinet allocations, appointing key leaders to various departments. The cabinet includes notable figures such as Dilip Ghosh and Agnimitra Paul. Adhikari also revealed plans to integrate the state into central welfare schemes like Ayushman Bharat and implement new initiatives for women's empowerment and education. This marks a pivotal moment for the newly formed BJP government in West Bengal, as they set forth their administrative agenda.
 

Cabinet Allocations Revealed

On Monday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari of West Bengal unveiled the allocation of significant departments within his newly formed cabinet. Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has been assigned the Rural Development and Animal Husbandry departments. Agnimitra Paul will oversee the Ministry of Women and Child Development, along with municipal corporations, while Nishith Pramanik will manage the North Bengal Development and Youth Affairs and Sports departments. Additionally, Khudiram Tudu has been appointed as the Minister for Tribal Development, and Ashok Kirtania will take charge of the Food Department.


Chief Minister Retains Home Department

The Chief Minister has retained the Home Department for himself. During the meeting, he shared important updates with the leaders. On Saturday, Suvendu Adhikari took the oath as the first Chief Minister of West Bengal, in a grand ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and many members of the central cabinet. Suvendu was sworn in alongside Agnimitra Paul, Nishith Pramanik (Rajbongshi), Dilip Ghosh (OBC), Ashok Kirtania (Matuas), and Khudiram Tudu (tribal).


Administrative and Policy Measures Announced

Earlier on Monday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced several crucial administrative and policy measures. These included integrating the state into the central Ayushman Bharat health scheme, transferring land to the BSF for border fencing, and implementing the BNS criminal law. These decisions were made during the first cabinet meeting of the BJP government in West Bengal, chaired by Adhikari, which also included the five newly sworn-in ministers and senior bureaucrats.


Inclusion in Central Welfare Schemes

In a press conference, the Chief Minister stated that Bengal will now be part of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, along with several other central welfare initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for crop insurance for farmers, the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM Shri) scheme for upgrading government schools, and the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana to support artisans and craftsmen. Furthermore, the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme aimed at women's education and empowerment, as well as the Ujjwala 3.0 scheme for providing subsidized cooking gas, will also be implemented in the state.
