Weather Update: Relief from Heat in North India with Rain and Thunderstorms

North India, including Delhi-NCR, has seen a welcome change in weather with rain and thunderstorms providing relief from the recent heatwave. The IMD has issued warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms across various states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, and parts of the Northeast. As temperatures rise, precautions against heatwaves are advised in regions like Rajasthan and Vidarbha. Weather Conditions Improve in North India

Following a storm and rainfall yesterday, the weather in North India, including Delhi-NCR, has become pleasant, providing significant relief from the intense heat experienced over the past few days. Hail was reported in several states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), clear skies are expected in Delhi today, with light sunshine anticipated throughout the day. No rain is expected today.


Temperature Forecast for Delhi

The maximum temperature in Delhi is projected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius. The IMD's latest weather bulletin, released on the night of April 30, warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail in various parts of the country over the next seven days. Some states may also experience extreme heat and heatwaves. These weather changes are attributed to a western disturbance, as per IMD.


Rain and Strong Winds Alert for Northern States

The weather department has indicated that from May 2 to May 6, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may experience rain and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Additionally, heavy winds and lightning could affect Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.


Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Bihar, Jharkhand, and Bengal

In the coming days, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal are likely to face heavy rain and thunderstorms. On May 2, winds in Bihar could reach speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour. The threat of thunderstorms and hail persists in Jharkhand and Odisha.


Heavy Rain Expected in Northeastern States

The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall over the next seven days in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, which could lead to flooding and landslides in several areas. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema are also expected to see rain with thunderstorms. Hail is predicted in Karnataka today, and heavy rain warnings have been issued for Tamil Nadu and Kerala.


Heatwave Warning in Rajasthan and Vidarbha

A heatwave is expected to occur in Vidarbha on May 1, and in western Rajasthan on May 2 and 3. The weather department has advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and to stay hydrated.
