Guwahati, Mar 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that Assam will experience predominantly dry weather in the upcoming days, with a gradual increase in rainfall anticipated later in the week.

As per the IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati, the majority of Assam is expected to remain dry on March 6, with no significant fluctuations in maximum temperatures.

On March 7, isolated areas may see light rainfall, but dry conditions are likely to dominate most regions.

From March 8, rainfall activity is projected to increase slightly, with light showers expected in scattered locations throughout the state.

The weather agency has also warned of potential thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas towards the end of the week.

Beginning March 9, weather patterns may become more dynamic, with light rain anticipated in several parts of Assam. During this time, maximum temperatures could decrease by approximately 3–5°C.

By March 10, some regions may experience light to moderate rainfall, along with overcast skies in certain areas.

For Guwahati and nearby regions, the IMD predicts partly cloudy skies with haze in the coming days. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 32°C, while the minimum may settle at approximately 17°C.

Additionally, other areas in the northeastern region are also likely to receive light rainfall in the near future.

Previously, on February 28, the India Meteorological Department indicated that maximum temperatures in March are expected to be normal to below normal across many regions of the country, excluding the Northeast, eastern India, and some parts of the Western Himalayan region and central and peninsular India.

While various regions are forecasted to receive normal to above-normal rainfall in March, the Northeast and certain areas in northwest and east-central India may experience below-normal rainfall.
