Weather Alert: Unpredictable Conditions Across India

India is currently facing a variety of weather conditions, from scorching heat to severe storms and rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for Delhi, predicting strong winds and rain. Himachal Pradesh has experienced significant damage due to storms, with reports of fatalities and road blockages. Other states like Assam, Meghalaya, and Bihar are also expecting rain in the coming days. As a new western disturbance approaches, the weather may worsen in northwest India. Weather Update

The weather across the country is experiencing significant fluctuations. While some regions are facing intense heat, others are affected by rain, storms, and hail, disrupting daily life. In the capital city of Delhi, the meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for rain on Tuesday, predicting strong winds at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. The minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 27 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius. Additionally, on May 13, overcast skies and light rain are anticipated in the capital.


Impact of Storms in Himachal Pradesh

On Monday, a storm and subsequent rainfall caused extensive damage in Himachal Pradesh. In the Banjar area of Kullu district, roofs of several houses and cow shelters were blown away. In Sundernagar, Mandi district, fallen trees damaged numerous vehicles, and a lightning strike in one village resulted in the death of several livestock. Strong winds also uprooted trees in Shimla, Kangra, and Baijnath, leading to power outages.


Road Blockages and Fatalities

The Jalori Pass was blocked due to fallen trees, affecting vehicle movement. Tragically, a lineman from the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board lost his life while repairing power lines in the Kangra district due to an electric shock. The meteorological department has issued alerts for hail, thunderstorms, and winds ranging from 40 to 70 kilometers per hour in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur districts on May 12.


Weather Conditions in Other States

From May 12 to 15, Assam and Meghalaya are likely to experience rainfall. Light to moderate rain is expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between May 13 and 15. Jharkhand and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may see rain from May 12 to 17. Additionally, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha are under a rain alert from May 12 to 15, while Bihar is forecasted to receive light to moderate rain from May 12 to 14. According to the meteorological department, a new western disturbance may become active on May 15, potentially worsening weather conditions in northwest India.
