Weather Conditions in Rajasthan

Jaipur: The weather in Rajasthan is displaying two contrasting conditions once again. While an alert for rain and thunderstorms has been issued for 24 districts, certain areas in western Rajasthan are still experiencing heat. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon is fully active in southern and eastern Rajasthan, whereas the western regions are seeing less rainfall, resulting in higher temperatures.

In the last 24 hours, Banswara district recorded the highest rainfall, with several areas experiencing between 5 to 7 centimeters of rain, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Continuous rainfall has caused rivers and streams to swell, prompting authorities to advise caution among residents. The weather department has issued warnings for heavy rainfall in Banswara and several other districts in southern Rajasthan.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for 24 districts in the state for Sunday, with warnings of heavy rain in some areas. Regions such as Udaipur, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Sirohi, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Tonk, Jaipur, and surrounding areas are expected to experience thunderstorms and winds at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.

Conversely, the heat persists in western Rajasthan, particularly in Phalodi, where the highest daytime temperatures in the state have been recorded, causing discomfort due to humidity and heat. Meteorologists indicate that the lack of monsoon cloud activity in western Rajasthan compared to the eastern regions has prevented a significant drop in temperatures.

According to the IMD, the current active monsoon system is expected to influence weather conditions for the next 24 hours, but a decrease in monsoon activity may follow. However, light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue in some areas of southern and southwestern Rajasthan. The weather department has urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather, refrain from staying in open areas during thunderstorms, and follow local administration advisories.
