Weather Conditions Set to Change Across India

The weather in Delhi NCR and other parts of the country is poised for a significant shift. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for the next week, predicting strong winds, rainfall, hailstorms, and thunderstorms across various states from North India to the Northeast and South. A new western disturbance is expected to become active in the western Himalayan region starting May 11, which will impact several northern states. Additionally, Delhi is under a two-day rain alert.


Rain and Thunderstorms in Delhi

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on May 11 and 12, forecasting rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. This weather change is expected to bring a drop in temperatures, providing some relief from the heat. The weather is expected to remain clear today and tomorrow, with strong sunshine. The maximum temperature in Delhi is projected to reach 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 24 degrees Celsius.


Severe Weather in Bihar and UP

Between May 11 and 14, thunderstorms and strong winds are anticipated in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. In Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, severe thunderstorms and hail are expected on May 9. The weather department has warned of potential damage from falling trees, power line disruptions, and significant crop losses in these areas.


Extreme Heat in Rajasthan

According to the weather department, residents of Rajasthan and Gujarat should not expect relief from the intense heat anytime soon. A heatwave warning has been issued for western Rajasthan, Saurashtra, and Kutch for the next week. Temperatures in Gujarat are expected to rise further from May 9 to 14. Recently, the highest temperature recorded in the country was 44.6 degrees Celsius in Barmer, Rajasthan.


Snowfall in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

From May 11 to 14, thunderstorms and strong winds are likely in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Some areas in Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir may experience winds reaching speeds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour. Additionally, hailstorm alerts have been issued for Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir.


Heavy Rain Forecast for Southern States

Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are expected to continue experiencing heavy rainfall. The forecast indicates that Kerala and Tamil Nadu may see significant rainfall over the next week. Meanwhile, thunderstorms and strong winds are also likely in Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.
