Weather Alert: Cyclone Arnab's Impact and Western Disturbance Bring Rain to Rajasthan

Rajasthan is experiencing a dramatic shift in weather due to the remnants of Cyclone Arnab and the activation of a western disturbance. The IMD has issued warnings for strong winds, thunderstorms, and potential hail across various districts. This change is expected to lower temperatures, providing relief from the heat but raising concerns for farmers regarding crop safety. Rain is anticipated in several regions, particularly in eastern Rajasthan, with forecasts indicating continued precipitation until the end of October. As the weather stabilizes, residents are advised to stay alert for updates.

Significant Weather Changes in Rajasthan

Jaipur. The recent cyclone 'Arnab' originating from the Bay of Bengal has weakened into a depression over southern Chhattisgarh, coinciding with the activation of a new western disturbance in northern India, leading to a notable shift in Rajasthan's weather.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Jaipur weather center have issued warnings for strong winds, thunder, rain, and hail across several divisions of the state. This weather change is expected to cause a drop in maximum temperatures by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from heat and humidity, although it raises concerns for farmers regarding crop safety.

According to the weather bulletin, on October 29 and 30, eastern Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota, and Udaipur divisions, is likely to experience overcast skies with winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, along with light to moderate rainfall. Particularly in the northern districts of Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions—such as Alwar, Dausa, and Karauli—there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain and hail in some areas.

In contrast, the eastern parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in western Rajasthan may see partly cloudy skies and light rain, while remote areas near the India-Pakistan border are expected to remain mostly dry.

Weather scientists have cautioned that strong winds and hail could damage tin sheds, electric poles, hoardings, and crops that have been harvested and stored in fields. The weather center predicts that light rain activities may continue in parts of eastern Rajasthan until October 31, after which a return to dry and clear weather is anticipated across the state starting November 1.
