Suspension of Professors at VSSUT

In Sambalpur, the administration of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) has taken decisive action by suspending two faculty members due to allegations of misconduct, as confirmed by official sources on Friday.

The professors are facing accusations of sexual harassment in distinct cases, prompting ongoing investigations, according to a senior administrative official who spoke to a news agency.

The official noted that both individuals did not attend the university's management board meeting to defend themselves against the allegations.

One of the suspended professors, from the production engineering department, is accused of inappropriate behavior towards a female colleague, while an associate professor from the mathematics department allegedly acted inappropriately with a female research scholar.

The disciplinary measures were enacted on August 13, as part of the university's response to these serious allegations.

This incident follows another troubling case involving an assistant professor from the Integrated BEd department at FM (Autonomous) College, who was suspended and arrested after a female student tragically died by self-immolation on July 14, reportedly due to harassment by the faculty member.
