Voter Awareness Campaign Engages Students in Norpur Assembly Constituency
Promoting Electoral Awareness Among Students
Sudhanshu Sharma from Nurpur reports that a series of interactive events took place today in various educational institutions within the Norpur Assembly constituency, led by Election Registration Officer and SDM Arun Sharma, as part of a voter awareness initiative.
Students engaged in discussions, speeches, and artistic activities through the Election Literacy Clubs (ELCs), all aimed at enhancing their understanding of the electoral process. The initiative was effectively managed by Electoral Kanungo Rajnish Kumar, SVEEP Nodal Officer Brijesh Pathania, and other booth-level officers.
Varun Sharma, the ELC Nodal Officer for Norpur Subdivision, mentioned that each nodal officer is responsible for overseeing three to four institutions, with activities planned for the third Saturday of each month. The main goal is to achieve full voter participation in the upcoming Assembly elections.
The Election Commission has instructed that ELCs be established in all educational institutions, particularly targeting students in grades IX to XII. This initiative aims to familiarize these future voters with the electoral process, including the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), VVPATs, and ballot units, thereby fostering trust and transparency.
In a bid to promote environmental awareness, saplings of moringa, lemon, and palah were distributed to the participating students.
Notable attendees at the event included Dr. Rohit Kumar, Brijesh Pathania, Jyoti Bala, Gurudev Singh, Gagan Singh, Som Singh, Ravi Mahajan, Ankush Pathania, Munish, Vinod Kumar, Sandeep Singh, Sonu, Sandeep Kumar, Pradeep, and Mahashu Ram.
