VK Sasikala Unveils New Political Party

VK Sasikala, a former chief minister's ally and expelled leader from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), announced the formation of her new political party named 'All India Poochi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam' on Thursday. During the announcement, she also revealed the party's official symbol, which features a coconut plantation. Reflecting on the party's legacy, Sasikala paid tribute to the founder M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), emphasizing that MGR established the party to serve the public and to stand against the DMK, highlighting a strong commitment to uplifting the poor.

Sasikala reiterated that MGR's vision was to create a party for the people, primarily to oppose the DMK. She noted that just as a single tree does not make an entire orchard, they have come together as a collective of party workers and the public. Previously, she had announced her intention to start a new Dravidian party while hoisting the party flag on the occasion of former chief minister Jayalalithaa's 78th birthday.

While addressing a gathering in Ramnathapuram in memory of Jayalalithaa, Sasikala launched a scathing attack on her former associate and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), accusing him of betrayal and claiming that the party has declined under his leadership. Sasikala, who was once the acting general secretary of AIADMK and a close aide to Jayalalithaa, was expelled from the party after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.

Sasikala stated that remaining silent for the past nine years would have been a betrayal to the people of Tamil Nadu. Therefore, in the interest of the public and party workers, she is launching a new party. She declared that they are embarking on a new era with a new party that will follow the path of Perarignar Anna, Poochi Thalaivar MGR, and Poochi Thalaivi Amma. This party aims to serve the poor and common people while rooting out enemies and traitors.
