Mitchell McClenaghan, a former New Zealand fast bowler and expert for JioStar, has praised Virat Kohli, labeling him the most reliable player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He commended Kohli's remarkable ability to adapt to various roles and eras throughout his career.


During a match against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kohli became the first player to surpass 9,000 runs in IPL history. He achieved this milestone while leading his team to a comfortable 76-run victory, scoring 23 runs off 15 balls, including two sixes and a four, at a strike rate of 153.33.


McClenaghan Highlights Kohli's Consistency

In a discussion on Star Sports, McClenaghan emphasized Kohli's journey from a lower-middle order batsman to a top-order powerhouse, showcasing his adaptability and relentless pursuit of runs. He stated, "Kohli's consistency is remarkable. McClenaghan noted Kohli's evolution since the IPL's inception in 2008, pointing out his successful transitions between various batting positions. "He began not as an opener but in the lower middle order, fought for his spot, then moved to number three, and eventually opened alongside Chris Gayle, which transformed his game entirely," he added.

Looking ahead, McClenaghan confidently predicted that Kohli is on track to reach the 10,000-run milestone in the IPL. "Without a doubt, he will soon achieve 10,000 runs.
