Inspiring Message from Virat Kohli

During the inauguration of a cricket academy at DPS RK Puram on Tuesday, renowned Indian cricketer Virat Kohli shared an uplifting message with students, encouraging them to value their educational environment and chase their aspirations with integrity and dedication.

Emphasizing Honesty in Pursuing Dreams

While addressing the students, Kohli expressed that he was not used to speaking at school events but felt a strong connection with the audience, recalling his own experiences at that age. He reflected on how his priorities shifted early in life when he chose cricket as his career. "Thank you for having me. Speaking in schools is a bit unfamiliar for me since I left that environment long ago for cricket, but I understand the school experience. I've been where you are now, and I can share how my focus changed early on," he stated.

The Importance of Respecting Educators

Kohli, now 37, highlighted the significance of schools as places for personal growth and development. He stressed the importance of respecting educators, who dedicate their lives to nurturing students. "Respect your teachers and the learning environment. They invest a part of their lives in your education, and it's crucial to acknowledge that with the attention and respect they deserve," he remarked.

Commitment to Goals

Drawing from his own life choices, Kohli discussed his early dedication to cricket and the necessity of having clear goals. "I committed to sports early on, stemming from a genuine desire. I was clear about my intention to pursue cricket, and I had to be honest with myself, my family, and my teachers about this path," he explained.

Advice for Students

He encouraged students to be self-aware and fully dedicated to their dreams. "Be truthful about your aspirations and pursue them with unwavering commitment. Only you can determine if you are being completely honest with yourself," Kohli advised.

A Personal Connection to the Academy

Kohli reminisced about his long-standing relationship with the academy, noting its importance in his childhood. "I began practicing here at the age of eight and still visit whenever I can. This academy has been a significant part of my life, and I hope all the children who come here to learn cricket appreciate it and gain valuable experiences. I wish the best for the school and its cricket program," he concluded.

Kohli's IPL Milestone

In other news, Kohli recently made history by becoming the first player to reach 9000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He achieved this remarkable feat during an away match against DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the venue where his cricket journey began.

Match Highlights

In the match, RCB chose to bowl first, with impressive performances from Josh Hazlewood (4 wickets for 12 runs) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3 wickets for 5 runs), limiting DC to 75 runs in 16.3 overs. Abishek Porel (30) and David Miller (19) were the only notable contributors for DC.

RCB's batting lineup responded aggressively, with Jacob Bethell scoring 20 runs off 10 balls, Devdutt Padikkal making 34 runs off 13 balls, and Kohli contributing 25 runs off 13 balls, leading RCB to victory in just 6.3 overs. This win marked RCB's sixth victory in eight matches, placing them second in the points table, while DC's fifth loss keeps them in seventh place.
