Violent Clash in Jharkhand Village Claims Two Lives: What Led to the Tragedy?
Tragic Incident in Gendra Village
Chatra: A violent confrontation in Gendra village, located in Jharkhand's Chatra district, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left two others critically injured, as reported by local authorities on Monday.
The clash occurred late Sunday night, instilling fear and anxiety among the villagers. The victims have been identified as Devendra Ganjhu and Churaman Ganjhu.
Initial police investigations suggest that both factions involved in the altercation had prior affiliations with the outlawed Maoist group, Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC).
According to officials, around midnight, Devendra Ganjhu, along with several associates, confronted Shyam Bhokta at his home in Gendra village. An argument over a longstanding dispute escalated into violence.
During the altercation, it is alleged that Devendra Ganjhu and his group opened fire indiscriminately. Shyam Bhokta and his brother-in-law, Gopal Ganjhu, suffered severe gunshot wounds. In the ensuing gunfire, both Devendra Ganjhu and Churaman Ganjhu were killed instantly.
Following the incident, police personnel, including Lovalong police station in-charge Prashant Mishra and Kunda police station in-charge Prince Kumar, along with the SSB’s 35th Battalion, swiftly arrived at the scene to restore order. The deceased were taken into custody for post-mortem examinations.
The injured were first transported to the Pratapgarh Community Health Centre but were later referred to Daltonganj (Medininagar) and subsequently to RIMS in Ranchi for advanced medical care. Medical professionals have indicated that both individuals remain in critical condition.
Preliminary findings indicate that the violence stems from a longstanding feud and power struggle among former TPC members. Police records reveal that Devendra Ganjhu had a history of criminal activity, with 36 serious cases against him. Shyam Bhokta was also previously linked to the banned organization.
The atmosphere in the village remains tense, with many residents choosing to stay indoors due to fear. Authorities have increased patrols in the area, and the investigation is ongoing.
