Violence Erupts in Bhubaneswar: Thirteen Arrested After Bar Vandalism and Shooting Incident

In a shocking incident in Bhubaneswar, thirteen individuals were arrested after vandalizing a bar and shooting its security guard. The altercation began when the guard asked them to leave as the bar was closing. Following the attack, the guard was hospitalized with a gunshot wound. Police conducted extensive raids across multiple locations to apprehend the suspects and seized a firearm from the main accused. This incident raises concerns about safety and violence in nightlife areas.
 

Incident Overview


Bhubaneswar: Police reported that thirteen individuals were detained following an incident of vandalism at a bar in Bhubaneswar, where a security guard was shot after asking them to leave as the establishment was closing.


The group became aggressive when asked to exit around 2 am, leading them to throw stones at the bar in the Chandrasekharpur area, resulting in broken glass.


While some members remained outside, others sought reinforcements to escalate the situation, according to Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh.


At approximately 4 am, the security guard, Surya Kanta Pradhan, 34, who had requested their departure, was attacked and shot.


He suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital, where he is reported to be stable.


Following a complaint, police teams executed raids across Puri, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, and Khurda, leading to the arrests. A 7.65 mm pistol, manufactured in the United States, was confiscated from the main suspect.
