Clash Between Political Supporters

During the campaign for the Kalyan-Dombivli municipal elections, a violent altercation occurred in Ward Number 29 between supporters of the Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As a result, five members of the Shiv Sena were taken into custody, as reported by the police on Tuesday.


The incident took place late Tuesday night.


According to a complaint filed at the Ramnagar police station, a group of approximately 60 supporters allegedly attacked Omnath Natekhar, the husband of BJP candidate Arya Natekhar.


Natekhar, a local contractor, claimed that he was assaulted with sharp weapons and iron rods while returning from the election campaign. He is currently receiving treatment at the AIIMS hospital located in MIDC.


Assistant Police Commissioner Suhas Hemade stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against ten individuals. He added, 'We have arrested five Shiv Sena workers so far.'
