Vijay Enters Politics: Files Nomination for Perambur Assembly Seat
Vijay's Political Milestone
Chennai, March 30: The actor-turned-politician Vijay has officially submitted his nomination papers for the Perambur Assembly constituency, marking a pivotal moment in his political career as Tamil Nadu approaches its Assembly elections.
As the president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay presented his nomination to the Returning Officer at Dr Ambedkar Government Arts College located in Vyasarpadi. He was accompanied by prominent party figures, including General Secretary N. Anand and Joint General Secretary C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar.
The event attracted a massive turnout of supporters, with thousands of TVK members, Vijay's fans, and local residents gathering along the main routes to Vyasarpadi and outside the college well in advance of his arrival.
This enthusiastic response underscored the increasing political momentum of the TVK, which is making its first appearance in the electoral arena.
As Vijay's campaign vehicle navigated through the area, crowds surged to catch a glimpse of the beloved actor-politician.
This led to significant traffic disruptions in various parts of Vyasarpadi, prompting a large police presence to manage the growing crowds and maintain security.
At one point, traffic came to a halt near a signal when motorists stopped to take selfies as Vijay's convoy paused briefly.
Although the interruption was short-lived, it resulted in minor congestion before normal traffic resumed.
Party insiders characterized the nomination day as a demonstration of strength, emphasizing the grassroots enthusiasm surrounding Vijay's foray into politics.
With Perambur being one of the key constituencies in Chennai, Vijay's candidacy is anticipated to introduce a new dynamic to the electoral contest.
The TVK, under Vijay's leadership, is contesting the Assembly elections with a complete list of candidates, aiming to present itself as a viable alternative to the traditional Dravidian parties. In the coming weeks, heightened campaigning is expected as parties prepare for a competitive electoral battle across Tamil Nadu.
