Vijay's Engagement in Thanjavur

On Wednesday, actor-turned-politician Vijay will address officials from his Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) across eight assembly constituencies in Ayyasam Pettai, Thanjavur district. The TVK founder departed early from his residence in Chennai, arriving at Tiruchirappalli Airport before heading to Thanjavur by road for the gathering.

The district comprises eight assembly segments, including the reserved constituency of Thiruvidaimarudur, which is represented by Tamil Nadu's Minister of Higher Education, Govindasamy Chezhiyan.

In the 2021 assembly elections, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) secured seven seats, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) managed to win one seat. Party members arrived at the venue well in advance, eagerly anticipating sharp criticisms of the ruling DMK government from their leader, Vijay.

According to TVK, the event will take place on ten acres of land near Sengipatti village in Ayyasam Pettai, with approximately 4,900 officials from the district expected to attend.

Attendance Restrictions for the Gathering

Only individuals holding QR passes will be permitted to attend the assembly. TVK General Secretary N. Anand stated that these QR passes have been issued exclusively to select party members. He also mentioned that pregnant women, children, school students, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals will not be allowed to participate for safety reasons.
