Vihaan Jain Clinches Maiden Title

In a thrilling conclusion at the IGU Andhra Pradesh Junior Boys Golf Championship held at East Point Golf Club, Delhi's Vihaan Jain emerged victorious, capturing his first Category 'A' (15-17 years) title on Friday.

As per the official announcement, Vihaan delivered an impressive performance, finishing with a two-under 70, which secured him a three-shot win over Arjun Dahiya (74), who faltered during the final nine holes. The 16-year-old concluded the tournament with a total score of four-under 284 over four days. Dahiya, who was competitive until the 13th hole, ended three shots ahead of Ishnidh Virdi (74), who finished with a total of one-under 287.

Tense Final Round

"Winning a junior event feels amazing," expressed a delighted Vihaan, who had faced near misses in the past. "I’m thrilled to have performed well under pressure," he added, recalling his playoff loss in the same event last year.

The final round was tightly contested, with Vihaan and Dahiya tied for the lead at the halfway point. Dahiya made a critical mistake with a bogey on the 12th hole, allowing Vihaan to take the lead with a 15-foot putt on the 13th. Another bogey from Dahiya on the 14th extended Vihaan's lead to three shots with just four holes remaining.

By the 17th hole, Vihaan had increased his advantage to five shots, setting up a five-foot birdie putt after a precise lob wedge shot, while Dahiya recorded a bogey five. Despite a three-putt double bogey on the final hole, where Vihaan's tee shot found trouble, he secured a comfortable three-shot victory.
