Vice President CP Radhakrishnan Visits Andaman and Nicobar Islands for National Celebrations
Vice President's Two-Day Visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands
On Saturday, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan arrived in Sri Vijay Puram for a two-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. His itinerary includes participation in various events related to the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign and the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram'.
According to officials, Radhakrishnan landed at the naval air station 'INS Utkrisht' near Veer Savarkar International Airport via a special flight, where he was welcomed by senior administrative officials.
Following his arrival, Radhakrishnan proceeded to Lok Niwas for a meeting with Lieutenant Governor D.K. Joshi.
Tributes at Cellular Jail and Upcoming Events
As per officials, the Vice President is scheduled to visit the Cellular Jail National Memorial on Saturday evening, where he will pay homage at the Martyrs' Column. He will also offer floral tributes at the Freedom Flame and visit the cell where V.D. Savarkar was imprisoned during British rule.
Additionally, Radhakrishnan will witness a 'Light and Sound Show' at the Cellular Jail National Memorial, which highlights the sacrifices of freedom fighters during the independence movement.
On the morning of August 9, he will hoist the national flag at a flag point in Sri Vijay Puram as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative. Following this, he will attend a state-level 'Vande Mataram Tiranga Music Program' in an auditorium.
On Sunday afternoon, the Vice President will visit the historic Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island before departing for New Delhi in the evening.
