Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan's Northeastern Tour: Highlights from Manipur

Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan's recent visit to Manipur marks a significant part of his four-day tour of the Northeastern states. Welcomed by local dignitaries, he participated in various cultural engagements, including a visit to the Indian National Army Museum and Sainik School Imphal. Enhanced security measures were implemented across the state to ensure a smooth visit. Following his time in Manipur, Radhakrishnan will head to Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, where he will attend a special session of the Legislative Assembly. This tour highlights the Vice-President's commitment to engaging with the Northeastern region.

Imphal, Sept 8: On Tuesday, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan landed in Imphal as part of a four-day tour across the Northeastern states.


He was welcomed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport around 10:30 am by Manipur's Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh.


Upon his arrival, an Indian Reserve Battalion contingent provided a ceremonial Guard of Honour.


Following his arrival, Radhakrishnan traveled to Moirang, located approximately 45 km south of Imphal, where he visited the Indian National Army Museum, commonly referred to as the INA Museum, along with the War Memorial.


His schedule for the day in Manipur also includes a visit to Sainik School Imphal in the Imphal East district, where he is set to engage in various cultural and public activities.


During his time at Sainik School Imphal, the Vice-President will take part in a series of cultural and public engagements.


In light of his visit, security measures have been heightened throughout the state, especially at the locations on his agenda. Traffic arrangements have also been adjusted in the Moirang area of Bishnupur district.


After his engagements in Manipur, the Vice-President will proceed to Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, which is the final stop on his four-day tour of the Northeast.


In Itanagar, he is expected to attend a special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and visit the Assembly Gallery-cum-Museum.


The Vice-President's Office shared images of his arrival in Imphal on social media, highlighting the warm reception he received from the Governor, Chief Minister, and other officials before the Guard of Honour.


Radhakrishnan's journey in the Northeast began in Assam, where he participated in the golden jubilee celebrations of Geetanagar College and the convocation ceremony at Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences in Guwahati.


On Monday, he laid the foundation stone for infrastructure projects at Gauhati University before heading to Shillong, Meghalaya, where he attended a public reception and cultural event at Soso Tham Auditorium.


This visit to Manipur is the latest segment of the Vice-President's tour of the Northeast, which will conclude in Arunachal Pradesh.
