Chennai, June 23: The administration of Vellore district has announced a no-fly zone for June 25 and 26 due to the upcoming visit of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

An official statement from District Collector V.R. Subbulaxmi indicated that all forms of aerial activities, including drone flights, will be banned during these two days.

This decision is part of heightened security measures for the Chief Minister's visit, during which he is set to inaugurate the renovated British-era Pentland Multi-Speciality Hospital located within the Vellore Corporation and provide welfare assistance to various recipients.

The Collector cautioned that any unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or similar devices operated without prior authorization will be subject to immediate confiscation or destruction by local law enforcement.

"Individuals or organizations found breaching the no-fly regulations will face stringent penalties under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)," the statement emphasized.

Officials also reiterated that drone operations, whether conducted by private citizens, government bodies, or commercial firms, must adhere to the guidelines established by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Any exceptions require explicit prior consent from the appropriate authorities.

This initiative is aimed at safeguarding both dignitaries and the public during the Chief Minister's engagements, which are anticipated to draw large crowds and significant administrative activity.

Security measures have been further strengthened due to the strategic significance of the Chief Minister's schedule in the district.

The two-day visit will encompass various events and interactions with beneficiaries of welfare schemes, necessitating increased surveillance and restrictions on airspace.
