The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, recognized as a World Athletics Gold Label Race, has officially unveiled its Finisher’s Medal for the upcoming 21st edition. This prestigious medal, symbolizing the pinnacle of achievement for runners, was presented by Delhi's Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, at the Delhi Secretariat.
Event Details
Scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, the marathon will commence from the renowned Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Runners from India and around the globe will participate, all aiming to cross the finish line and earn their medals. Over the past twenty years, this event has become a cornerstone of Delhi’s sporting culture, uniting the community in a celebration of fitness and the joy of running. Its lasting legacy aligns with the FIT India Movement, promoting a healthier nation as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Support from the Delhi Government
CM Rekha Gupta emphasized the significance of the marathon, highlighting its focus on health, fitness, and increased female participation. She stated, "The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon has evolved into a vital initiative for the National Capital, inspiring enthusiasm among participants. The Delhi Government is committed to ensuring this edition's success."
Kapil Mishra, the Minister of Labour, Employment, and Tourism, remarked, "This marathon has become a staple event in Delhi's annual calendar, attracting participants from across the globe. The Delhi Government and Delhi Tourism are dedicated to promoting such events, enhancing Delhi's appeal as a tourism hub. We anticipate a grand success for the October 18 edition."
A Medal with Heritage
Continuing its tradition, the 2026 Finisher’s Medal embodies India's rich natural heritage and the personal journeys of each runner. Made from high-quality zinc sourced from the historic Zawar Mines in Udaipur, the medal is produced by Hindustan Zinc Limited, part of the Vedanta Group. It signifies more than just a race-day token.

Record Registration Response
The medal unveiling coincides with an unprecedented surge in registrations for the race. The Half Marathon registrations closed within just 100 hours, marking the quickest closure in the event's history. Additionally, events like the Great Delhi Run, Champions with Disability, and Senior Citizen Run have also seen a remarkable response, showcasing Delhi's growing enthusiasm for fitness and community engagement.
