Patna, July 18: In a notable operation at the India-Nepal border in Raxaul, Bihar, security forces detained a woman from Uzbekistan who was reportedly trying to enter Nepal using a counterfeit Indian Aadhaar card.

The apprehension was executed by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) during their regular border surveillance.

As per official reports, SSB personnel were performing standard checks near the Raxaul Maitri Bridge on the evening of July 16, 2026, when they noticed a woman exhibiting suspicious behavior.

Upon questioning, she revealed her identity as Bozorova Shakarjon, a national of Uzbekistan.

Authorities discovered that she held a valid Uzbek passport, which is set to expire in October 2029, but lacked a legitimate visa for her stay in India.

Initial investigations indicate that she had been residing in Mumbai for almost a year with an Indian associate.

During this time, it is alleged that she adopted a different identity, acquired forged documents, and fraudulently obtained an Indian Aadhaar card.

Police suspect she was attempting to exit India and enter Nepal when she was intercepted at the border.

After the preliminary questioning, the SSB transferred her to the Haraiya Police Station in the East Champaran district for further legal action.

Haraiya Station House Officer, Kishan Kumar Paswan, confirmed that the woman did not have a valid visa for her stay in India and that a counterfeit Indian Aadhaar card was found in her possession.

“A forged Indian Aadhaar card has also been recovered from the woman,” stated SHO Kishan Kumar Paswan.

A case is currently under investigation in accordance with the relevant sections of the Passport Act, visa regulations, and other laws applicable to foreign nationals in India.

Investigators are now working to uncover who assisted the woman in obtaining the forged Aadhaar card, who facilitated her alleged illegal residency in India, and whether others were involved in creating counterfeit identity documents, as well as the purpose of her intended travel to Nepal.

Authorities are also scrutinizing her contacts, activities, and potential associates within India.
