The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced an orange alert for rain in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand, effective Monday and continuing into Tuesday. The Meteorological Centre in Dehradun has provided a detailed forecast following the warning issued on May 19. This alert indicates the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and heavy rainfall, particularly affecting the districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. In response to these severe weather conditions, the Uttarakhand Police has advised pilgrims participating in the Chardham Yatra to exercise caution while traveling and to contact emergency services by dialing 112 if needed.

Rainfall is also likely in Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri, Almora, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar, while very light to light rain may occur in isolated areas of Dehradun and Haridwar. Residents are urged to remain indoors during stormy weather, avoid open spaces, and take necessary safety precautions.
