Uttarakhand High Court Demands Action Plan for Street Stall and Parking Issues in Haldwani
Court Hearing on Public Interest Petition
The Uttarakhand High Court has called upon officials to present a comprehensive plan regarding the illegal street stalls and parking challenges in Haldwani during a recent public interest litigation hearing.
A bench comprising Chief Justice G. Narendra and Justice Subhash Upadhyay has scheduled the next hearing for December 29.
The petition, filed by Hitesh Pandey, a resident of Haldwani, highlights the inconveniences faced by the public due to unauthorized stalls, a lack of parking spaces, and the arbitrary parking practices of tempos, e-rickshaws, and buses.
Judicial Emphasis on Urban Planning
The petition further argues that urban planning should not solely rely on punitive measures.
The court has requested detailed information from the authorities regarding planning and rehabilitation strategies, instructing them to submit a solid action plan.
