Uttarakhand CM Offers Assistance to Rishabh Pant for Land Acquisition

On Saturday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his support for cricketer Rishabh Pant's request for assistance in acquiring land in the state. Dhami emphasized that the government is ready to provide all necessary help. He acknowledged Pant's contributions to cricket and his representation of Uttarakhand on a national level.

The Chief Minister mentioned that officials would engage with Pant to discuss his needs. "Anyone wishing to come back is more than welcome. Pant is a proud son of our state, and his achievements have brought honor to Uttarakhand. Our officials will coordinate with him to ensure he receives the support he requires," Dhami stated.

Rishabh Pant's Request

Previously, Pant had reached out to the Chief Minister via social media, sharing his struggles over the past three years to secure land in Uttarakhand. He expressed his desire to return to his roots and contribute to the state's development. "@pushkardhami hello sir, it's been a long time for me, especially being from Uttarakhand. I've been trying to buy land to relocate from Delhi, but it's been challenging. I love my state and humbly request your assistance in this matter," Pant wrote.

He later added that he was open to purchasing the land at official rates, stating, "A gift would be wonderful for representing our state internationally, but I would like to buy it from the government. This would allow me to build my first home in Uttarakhand. Please assist me; I am unsure how to proceed."

Rishabh Pant's Cricket Journey

The 28-year-old cricketer, originally from Uttarakhand, currently plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and is a vital part of India's Test team. He is currently participating in a three-day unofficial Test against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo, ahead of India's two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting on August 15. Pant has amassed 3,557 runs in 50 Tests, averaging 43.37, with eight centuries and 19 fifties. Additionally, he has scored 871 runs in 31 ODIs and 1,209 runs in 76 T20Is.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pant has recently returned to Delhi Capitals after being traded from Lucknow Super Giants. He initially joined LSG for a record fee of Rs 27 crore but will now play for Delhi Capitals at a revised fee of Rs 15 crore, while spinner Kuldeep Yadav has moved to Lucknow at his existing fee of Rs 13.50 crore.

Moreover, Pant has recently been recognized as the highest individual taxpayer from Uttarakhand, reportedly paying Rs 23.84 crore in taxes for the financial year 2025-26.
