Ceremonial Observance at Har Ki Pauri
On Friday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami marked the completion of his four-year term by performing rituals at Har Ki Pauri along the banks of the Ganges, praying for the prosperity of the state.
Accompanying him were former Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Rajya Sabha member Kalpana Saini, and legislators Madan Kaushik and Aadesh Chauhan, as Dhami conducted the ceremony under the guidance of Acharya Amit Shastri.
Significance of Rivers
During the River Festival held at Har Ki Pauri, the Chief Minister emphasized that rivers are not merely sources of water but have historically been the foundation of social, economic, and religious advancement. He highlighted the importance of conserving rivers to combat the effects of global warming.
Dhami urged the public to treat rivers with the same respect as their mothers, advocating for their cleanliness and sanctity. He also led attendees in a pledge to refrain from polluting rivers in the future.
Political Achievements and Commitments
Additionally, Dhami addressed a BJP rally at Rishikul Maidan, where he outlined significant achievements of his government over the past four years, including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), actions against land encroachment, and measures against paper leak mafias.
He reiterated his administration's commitment to the overall development of the state while preserving its cultural values and demographic balance. The Chief Minister mentioned the introduction of strict laws against conversion and riots, as well as decisive actions against jihadist mentalities, including measures against land jihad, love jihad, and spit jihad.
Dhami took the oath of office as Chief Minister on July 3, 2021, and was sworn in again following the state assembly elections in March 2022.
