Cabinet Expansion Ceremony in Uttarakhand

On Friday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expanded his cabinet. The oath-taking ceremony for the new ministers took place at Lok Bhawan. The newly appointed ministers, including Khajan Das from Dehradun, Bharat Chaudhary from Rudraprayag, Madan Kaushik from Haridwar, Pradeep Batra from Roorkee, and Ram Singh Kaira from Nainital, took their oaths at the Raj Bhawan.

Chief Minister Dhami Congratulates New Ministers

Following the cabinet expansion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his congratulations to the five leaders who assumed ministerial roles. He stated, “First and foremost, I would like to congratulate all the esteemed individuals entrusted with the responsibilities of the council of ministers today. I wish them all the best. They have been active in political and social spheres for a long time. Together, we will contribute to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Developed India,' and these distinguished individuals will play a crucial role in achieving this goal.”

Pre-Oath Meeting with New Leaders

This morning, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with BJP legislators Khajan Das (Dehradun), Madan Kaushik (Haridwar), Pradeep Batra (Roorkee), Bharat Chaudhary (Rudraprayag), and Ram Singh Kaira (Nainital) at the Raj Bhawan before their oath-taking. According to constitutional provisions, the Uttarakhand state cabinet can have a maximum of 12 members. There have been several speculations regarding cabinet expansions in the past, but none materialized. When the BJP began its second term in Uttarakhand in 2022, Dhami took the oath with eight ministers. Following the death of Social Welfare and Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas in April 2023, the cabinet size reduced to eight. This number further decreased to seven after the resignation of Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Prem Chand Agarwal last year.
