Uttarakhand Cabinet Expansion Set for Friday

The Uttarakhand government is set to expand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's cabinet on Friday, filling five long-standing vacancies. The swearing-in ceremony will occur at Lok Bhawan at 10 AM. Currently, the cabinet has faced reductions due to the passing of a minister and a resignation, leaving it with only seven members. This expansion is crucial as the state cabinet can accommodate up to 12 members, and the BJP aims to strengthen its governance.

Cabinet Expansion Announcement

The highly anticipated expansion of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's cabinet in Uttarakhand is scheduled for Friday, as confirmed by officials.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers will take place at Lok Bhawan at 10 AM.

Currently, there are five vacant positions in the Dhami cabinet that have been awaited for quite some time.

Current Cabinet Composition

When the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power for a second consecutive term in 2022, Chief Minister Dhami and eight other ministers took their oaths. According to constitutional provisions, the maximum number of members allowed in the Uttarakhand state cabinet is 12.

Following the death of Social Welfare and Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas in April 2023, the cabinet was reduced to eight members. Additionally, a controversy led to the resignation of Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Prem Chand Agarwal last year, further decreasing the count to seven.
