Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Highlights Progress in Infrastructure Development
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Discusses Progress Initiatives
On Tuesday, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, emphasized that the concept of progress is not merely about reviewing large infrastructure projects but is a powerful symbol of a results-oriented work culture in the new India. During a special press conference, he stated that this progress reflects the governance model envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is grounded in purpose, technology, and accountability. He asserted that the initiative has demonstrated that when these elements converge, tangible results are guaranteed.
By reinforcing digital governance and cooperative federalism, this platform has enabled timely resolutions of complex issues through inter-ministerial and inter-departmental coordination.
Historical Context and National Impact
The Chief Minister traced the origins of this model back to 2003 when it was initiated in Gujarat as SWAGAT (State Wide Attention on Grievances by Application of Technology) and later evolved into the national PRAGATI platform after 2014. He highlighted that PRAGATI has facilitated the acceleration of projects worth over ₹86 lakh crore across the country. Out of 3,162 significant issues raised, 2,958 have been resolved, showcasing the reliability of the governance system.
Uttar Pradesh's Role in National Infrastructure Development
Referring to Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi noted that the progress initiative has played a crucial role in establishing the state as one of India's leading centers for infrastructure development. Continuous monitoring under this initiative has ensured that major projects related to expressways, railways, metro systems, airports, rapid rail, inland waterways, and ropeways are advancing on schedule. Currently, Uttar Pradesh boasts the largest infrastructure portfolio in the country, encompassing 330 projects worth ₹10.48 lakh crore. Among these, 128 projects worth ₹2.37 lakh crore (39 percent) have been completed and are operational, while 202 projects worth ₹8.11 lakh crore are progressing within their designated timelines.
