Uttar Pradesh Strengthens Local Governance with New Council Appointments
New Appointments in Urban Local Bodies
The Uttar Pradesh government has reinforced the administrative framework of urban local bodies by completing the process of appointing councilors. An official notification released on Monday confirmed that new members have been designated across all 17 municipal corporations, as well as municipal councils and nagar panchayats in the state. According to the notification, each municipal corporation has seen the appointment of 10 councilors.
In total, 170 councilors have been appointed across the municipal corporations. The cities of Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, Agra, Mathura-Vrindavan, Firozabad, Aligarh, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Kanpur, Jhansi, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Gorakhpur each received 10 appointed councilors. Additionally, the state comprises around 200 municipal councils and 545 nagar panchayats, which have also seen member appointments.
Reactions from BJP Leaders
Pankaj Chaudhary, the president of the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit, congratulated all appointed councilors via a message on the social media platform 'X'. He expressed confidence that they would play a significant role in the development of their respective areas and in serving the nation. He emphasized the importance of collective effort in energizing the organization and strengthening the commitment to serve the state and the country.
Chaudhary reiterated the BJP's dedication to the comprehensive development and public welfare initiatives in Uttar Pradesh, wishing all the newly appointed councilors the best in their new responsibilities.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also extended his congratulations to the newly appointed councilors on 'X', wishing them a successful and bright tenure. He expressed his belief that they would diligently fulfill their responsibilities, contributing significantly to public service, regional development, and the strengthening of the organization.
