Fraudulent Activities Uncovered in Uttar Pradesh

In Mau, Uttar Pradesh, law enforcement has apprehended an individual accused of acquiring electronic items from retailers using fake QR codes and counterfeit UTR numbers without making any payments. The police reported that they recovered 16 electronic devices and other items from the suspect.

According to Sub-Inspector Nitesh Pratap Singh, the local police arrested Dharmendra Yadav, a resident of Harihar Pur Chilkahar Mudenra in the Ballia district, at his in-laws' home. Yadav targeted shops in various districts, including Ghazipur, Mau, and Varanasi, particularly those that lacked a sound box for confirming online payments.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Yadav would disable his mobile internet to scan QR codes and then deceive shopkeepers by presenting fake UTRs or counterfeit payment receipts generated through cloned applications. The police noted that the suspect operated under different names and addresses at various locations, storing the fraudulently obtained goods at home before selling them at lower prices to cover his expenses. Following his confession, authorities recovered a total of 16 electronic and other items from his residence.
