Corruption Case in Uttar Pradesh

The Anti-Corruption Organization (ACO) of Uttar Pradesh police apprehended a senior clerk from the Forest Department in Mathura on Friday, allegedly accepting a bribe of fifty thousand rupees for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a petrol pump. Officials confirmed the arrest.

A team from ACO, arriving from Agra, filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused at the Yamuna Par police station before taking him into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in Meerut on Saturday for proceedings related to corruption cases.

According to Sahadev Singh, the head of ACO (Agra), the Indian Oil Corporation had approved Rajan Singh's application in 2022 for establishing a petrol pump in Nagla Hasanpur. However, the file was stalled due to the Forest Department's failure to issue the necessary NOC.

Upon investigation, Rajan Singh discovered that the senior clerk had withheld the file. When he approached the clerk with his brother-in-law, the clerk demanded two lakh rupees to process the paperwork.

As they expressed their inability to pay that amount, they negotiated the first installment down to fifty thousand rupees. Subsequently, Rajan Singh's brother-in-law lodged a complaint with the ACO in Agra.

After confirming the allegations, the ACO team set a trap and caught the accused, Kishore Chaturvedi, red-handed while accepting the bribe at the Social Forestry Division office on Friday afternoon.

The ACO head stated that a case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the police station, and further legal action will follow.
