Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made a significant decision to fulfill the aspirations of Buddhist and Sikh devotees regarding their religious journeys. During a crucial meeting on Saturday, he emphasized that pilgrimages have historically served as a means for spiritual upliftment and social harmony within Indian culture. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the state government to assist citizens in reaching their places of faith.

In line with the Chief Minister's vision, the Buddhist Pilgrimage Scheme aims to facilitate Hindu and Buddhist devotees from the state to visit various Buddhist pilgrimage sites across the country. He has directed that Buddhist monks be given priority in selecting beneficiaries for this scheme.

Similarly, the Panch Takht Yatra Scheme will cater to Sikh devotees, allowing them to visit the five sacred 'Takht Sahib' sites in India. These revered locations for the Sikh community include 'Sri Anandpur Sahib, Punjab; Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Amritsar, Punjab; Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Punjab; Sri Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra; and Sri Harmandir Ji Sahib (Patna Sahib), Bihar.'

Both proposed schemes will provide a minimum grant of ₹10,000 per person. The Chief Minister has mandated that the application process for both schemes be entirely online, ensuring transparency in the selection of pilgrims, with a focus on prioritizing individuals from economically weaker sections. The schemes will be operated in collaboration with IRCTC.

The Chief Minister has instructed officials to implement these initiatives with the utmost priority on the convenience, safety, and religious sentiments of the pilgrims. He also stated that these schemes would strengthen the state's inclusive development policy and the spirit of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,' while enhancing religious tolerance and tourism in the state, thereby embodying the ethos of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.'
