Uttar Pradesh CM Celebrates Farmers on Chaudhary Charan Singh Jayanti
Celebrating Farmers' Contributions
On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marked the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, celebrated as Kisan Samman Diwas, by flagging off tractors for farmers in Lucknow. This event highlighted the state government's commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural development, with the Chief Minister attributing the overall progress of Uttar Pradesh to the hard work of farmers. Addressing the gathering, Adityanath noted that the presence of farmers and their families signifies growing confidence and prosperity in the agricultural sector. He stated, 'Today, we have distributed tractors to those farmers who attended this event with their families. You are all witnesses to the state's progress, thanks to our hardworking farmers.'
Acknowledging Agricultural Advancements
The Chief Minister praised the contributions of farmers to the state's development, emphasizing that agriculture has been prioritized in governance over the past decade. He remarked on the visible progress made by farmers in the state, which has become possible since 2014, thanks to policy changes implemented during this period. Adityanath also highlighted the role of scientific interventions in enhancing agricultural productivity, particularly through the Soil Health Card scheme initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He noted that many farmers have become aware of their land's health through these cards, a significant increase from the past when very few farmers possessed them.
Empowering Farmers Through Technology
According to Yogi Adityanath, access to soil quality information has enabled farmers to make informed decisions regarding crop selection, fertilizer use, and overall agricultural management, leading to improved yields and reduced costs. The event, held in memory of Chaudhary Charan Singh, widely regarded as a champion of farmers' rights, reaffirmed the state government's commitment to empowering farmers through mechanization, technology, and targeted welfare schemes.
