Renaming of Bhadohi District
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh revealed that the name of Bhadohi district will be changed to Sant Ravidas Nagar. Speaking at a public gathering in Varanasi, he criticized the Samajwadi Party for removing the name of the revered saint Guru Ravidas from the district. He emphasized that Bhadohi will once again be recognized as Sant Ravidas Nagar. This city and district, known internationally as 'Carpet City' due to its extensive handwoven carpet industry, is situated in the Ganges river plains between Varanasi, which is 45 kilometers away, and Prayagraj.
Safety Improvements in Itawa
Additionally, on Sunday, Yogi Adityanath stated that there is no longer an atmosphere of fear in Itawa, and the youth there no longer face an identity crisis. He attributed this positive change to the BJP government's 'zero-tolerance' policy towards crime and criminals. During a public address in Itawa, the Chief Minister alleged that prior to 2017, the district struggled with an identity crisis, causing residents to avoid visiting or investing in the area due to fear and insecurity.
Addressing Past Issues
He questioned who had created the identity crisis in Itawa before 2017, asserting that it was those who had won elections from the area. If there was an identity crisis in Itawa, it would become a crisis for all of Uttar Pradesh. The fear was so pervasive that merely mentioning Itawa would deter people from booking hotel rooms; there was no investment to speak of, and no one considered visiting.
BJP's Commitment to Safety
The Chief Minister credited the BJP government for adopting a tough stance against crime since coming to power in 2017 and fulfilling its promise of a 'zero-tolerance' policy. He noted that when the Prime Minister called upon the public to support the BJP in 2017, the party committed to working under this policy. The BJP has demonstrated its commitment to what it promised, and those who once created crises now face their own identity challenges.
