Land Ownership Certificates for Displaced Families
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, is set to hand over land ownership certificates to 331 Hindu families displaced from Bangladesh. These families, who migrated post-independence, have not previously received any land ownership rights. Additionally, the Chief Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for 213 projects worth ₹417 crores in Lakhimpur Kheri, Dhourahra, and Mohammadi. In Palia, he will distribute land ownership certificates to 4,556 families from the Tharu tribe and will also inaugurate and lay the groundwork for 314 projects valued at ₹817 crores in Palia, Srinagar, Nighasan, and Gola.
Addressing Consumer Complaints on Smart Meters
Previously, Yogi Adityanath took note of consumer complaints regarding smart electricity meters and has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. He emphasized that consumers are generally honest and will pay their bills promptly if they receive accurate billing on time. During a high-level meeting at his official residence, he reviewed the operations of the energy department and instructed the formation of a committee of experts to assess the issue of overbilling. He stated that if there is no fault on the part of the consumer, their electricity connection should not be disconnected.
Commitment to Quality Electricity Supply
According to a statement, the Chief Minister reiterated that ensuring uninterrupted, quality, and transparent electricity supply is the government's top priority. He stressed the need for reforms in the energy sector to benefit the end consumers, focusing on reliable supply, technical efficiency, and accountability. He directed the acceleration of initiatives related to smart metering, reduction of transmission losses, digitization of consumer services, and improvement in revenue collection.
