Enhancing Support for Farmers' Children

On Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh instructed officials to broaden the scope of the Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme for the talented children of farmers, aiming to benefit a larger number of eligible students. During a meeting of the Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Produce Market Board, which he chaired, several significant proposals related to farmer welfare, agricultural marketing, and market systems were approved, including a budget of ₹3025.49 crores for the fiscal year 2026-27.

According to an official statement, the Chief Minister emphasized the modernization and revitalization of the state's markets, equipping them with contemporary facilities to provide farmers with a more efficient, transparent, and convenient marketing system.

He particularly stressed the need to strengthen essential amenities in the markets, such as drinking water, sanitation, and lighting. The Chief Minister also encouraged the establishment of agricultural produce processing units under a public-private partnership (PPP) model in the markets, directing that regulations be made more practical and investment-friendly. He noted that this initiative would enable farmers to receive better prices for their produce and create new job opportunities in rural areas.

Additionally, he instructed that more markets be connected to the e-NAM (National Agricultural Market) platform, that more farmers be integrated into the National Natural Farming Mission, and that a certification system for 'organic' products be established in every district.
