Nursing as a Profession of Service and Compassion

On Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh highlighted the significance of nursing as a profession rooted in service and compassion. He stated that when care and empathy are integrated with patient interactions, it leads to positive outcomes.

During a ceremony organized by the Medical Education Department, he distributed appointment letters to nursing officials selected by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. In his address, he remarked, “The nursing profession embodies service and compassion. When your care connects with patients, the results are evident to all of us.”

Appointment Letters Distributed to Nursing Officials

A senior official reported that a total of 1,228 nursing officials received their appointment letters, comprising 1,097 women and 131 men. Adityanath noted, “Receiving appointment letters during Navratri is a perfect example of empowering women. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all candidates and express gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.”

The Growing Demand for Nursing Professionals

The Chief Minister emphasized that the days of questioning the value of establishing medical or nursing colleges are over. While medical education can be costly, nursing remains a field with ample job opportunities post-degree. He pointed out that the demand for Indian nursing professionals is not only present in the country but also globally.

“Recently, I visited Japan, where there is a significant demand for nursing professionals. Countries like Germany, Korea, and others in Europe are also seeking Indian nurses, confident in their capabilities,” he added.

Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure

Adityanath mentioned that the state government is integrating nursing officials into healthcare services to ensure better facilities in medical colleges and institutions. He stated, “Your selection was made through the Public Service Commission, and now you must advance this initiative through the Medical Education Department.”

Criticizing previous administrations, he noted that the healthcare infrastructure was weak before 2017. “From 1947 to 2017, there were only 17 government medical colleges in the state, with a total of 40 including private institutions. Today, the combined number of government and private colleges has risen to 81, a remarkable achievement in just nine years,” he remarked.

Encouragement for Nursing Officials

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who oversees the health department, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and encouraged nursing officials to work with a spirit of service. He assured them that they could reach out directly in case of any difficulties.

The ceremony was also addressed by State Minister for Medical Education and Health, Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh.
