Commitment to Good Governance

On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reaffirmed his government's dedication to good governance, stating that security is a fundamental requirement for any state's progress. During the inauguration of a new, modern security building at the Gorakhnath Temple complex in Gorakhpur, he elaborated on the reforms in policing and the improvements in law and order within the state.

Importance of Security

In his address following the inauguration, Yogi highlighted, "Security is the primary condition for good governance. Every individual requires safety. While governments have always made efforts in this direction, their focus has often been limited to recruitment alone."

Beyond Recruitment

Yogi emphasized that merely hiring personnel is not enough; they must also receive adequate training and proper facilities. He stated, "A constable, sub-inspector, or any police officer comes from among us. Without proper training and basic infrastructure, they remain just like any ordinary citizen and cannot effectively fulfill their duties."

Improvements Since 2017

Reflecting on the changes since his government took office in 2017, Yogi noted that more than half of the police positions were vacant at that time. He mentioned that the training capacity for police personnel, which was previously limited to about three thousand, has now increased to accommodate nearly six thousand due to improved facilities.

Addressing Infrastructure Issues

He pointed out that earlier, police stations and barracks lacked basic amenities, forcing personnel to endure difficult living conditions. "Today, we have ensured accommodation for around 200 personnel in every police line, with separate arrangements for men and women, resolving many longstanding issues," he added.

Creating a Safer Environment

The Chief Minister remarked that a combination of better infrastructure, timely recruitment, and enhanced training has fostered a safer environment in the state, contributing to a model of good governance. He noted that the newly constructed security building near the Gorakhnath Temple will serve as an example, providing facilities for the Superintendent of Police, senior officials, and specialized forces like the National Security Guard.

A Vision for the Future

Yogi concluded by stating that this model will aid in realizing the dream of good governance and a developed India.
