During high-level discussions with Iranian representatives in Switzerland, US Vice President JD Vance announced on Sunday that substantial progress had been made in the negotiations. He noted that crucial goals, such as reopening the Strait of Hormuz and addressing Iran's nuclear program, have already been met. Vance emphasized that these talks have opened doors for further advancements.
Speaking to the press alongside Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Qatari PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Vance expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for facilitating diplomatic efforts. He stated, "I want to thank the President of the United States for empowering us to seek a diplomatic resolution to significant issues affecting both Americans and the global community." He highlighted the importance of the negotiations held at the Swiss resort of Burgenstock.
Vance remarked, "The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the cessation of Iran's nuclear ambitions are achievements we have already secured. The pressing question now is how much more we can accomplish together. It is crucial for the American populace and for people worldwide to recognize that the President's leadership has brought us to this pivotal moment, aiming for a transformed Middle East in the next decade."
