US Forces Take Action Against Evading Vessel

Washington: On Tuesday, the US military reported that its forces targeted a Panamanian-flagged vessel in the Gulf of Oman after it attempted to bypass the American blockade aimed at Iranian ports. This action aligns with President Donald Trump's strategy to maintain economic pressure on Iran.

According to US Central Command, the ship failed to heed multiple warnings to halt, leading to an American helicopter launching missiles at the engine room of the M/V Vela Nova, effectively disabling the vessel. The statement did not clarify if there were any injuries among the crew.

Central Command also noted that it has redirected 55 commercial ships attempting to breach the blockade, disabled three non-compliant vessels, and conducted boardings on two others. Currently, the US Navy has over 15 warships, including two aircraft carriers and an amphibious assault ship, deployed in the Arabian Sea.
