US Military Operations Against Iran

On Tuesday, the US Central Command announced the completion of a series of coordinated military strikes aimed at Iranian military infrastructure. This five-hour operation focused on critical sites located in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas, all situated along Iran's southern coastline. CENTCOM shared footage of the operation, indicating that precision-guided munitions were utilized to dismantle Iranian coastal defense systems, missile launch sites, drone facilities, and naval assets.

The primary goal of this American mission was to systematically weaken Tehran's ability to pose threats to commercial shipping routes traversing the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime trade passage globally.

Trump Affirms Commitment to Keeping the Strait Open

Following the announcement of these strikes, President Donald Trump referred to the operation as "another major attack." While Iran acknowledged the strikes, it did not provide immediate reports on casualties or damage. Trump stated, "We're hitting them very hard. And it'll continue, and we'll see what happens." He emphasized that the US is dismantling Iran's offensive capabilities and maintaining control over the straits, hinting at a renewed blockade.

Additionally, Trump revealed plans for the US to charge tolls for vessels passing through the strait, a shift from earlier statements suggesting no such fees would be imposed. He remarked, "We're protecting a very rich portion of the world. We're spending money. And so, what we've done is, we are going to be reimbursed for protection." The US military announced it would reinstate its blockade of Iranian ports starting at midnight local time on Wednesday in Dubai.
