US Defense Secretary Declares Iran's Submarine Fleet No Longer a Threat
US Defense Secretary's Bold Statement on Iran's Naval Capabilities
Washington: In a recent briefing, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth asserted that Iran's surface fleet is no longer a significant concern, noting that the country has lost its submarines, which previously numbered 11.
Hegseth specifically referred to the midget submarines that were designed for operations in the shallow waters of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
These small submarines were built to avoid detection by sonar while laying mines and launching torpedoes.
During the Pentagon briefing, Hegseth also addressed the families of service members who lost their lives in the conflict with Iran, emphasizing a commitment to completing the mission.
He shared that the families expressed their desire for the US military to honor their loved ones' sacrifices and to persist until the objectives are achieved.
In response, Hegseth, alongside the president, assured them, stating, 'Absolutely, we will see this through. We will honor their sacrifice.'
